Why is a demonstration site important?
Vendor demonstrations and marketing materials are wonderful tools for getting a feel for a product but they are written with one intention in mind, selling you on their product. Many of us have been wowed by presentations and walk throughs of applications we're evaluating and walk away with a "I've got to have it!" feeling. It's hard not to fall in love with a system that seems like it will address all our needs and it always seems so intuitive and simple to use too. Try and think of it like being dropped in the wilderness with an expert guide, of course it's easy to find your way to food, water, and shelter, you have a skilled guide at your side. Let's try that again, without the guide, how do you think you would fair? Oh sure you might survive but was that the image you had when you walked out of the vendor demonstration?
Think of a demonstration site as camping in your back yard. You can try it out for yourself, by yourself, share it with your colleagues, and all see how it works for you.
